Raid Rules
Updated 21/10/09 – by Auldyn
We raid for fun, but at the same time, we want to do as well as we can, so we need to be a little organised about things – adhering to the following will make it as fun & stress-free as possible for all concerned…
Pre-Raid:
1. Sign up at http://www.kungfoomonkeybadgers.com/calendar - please note that times are game/server time – ensure you know how this translates to your local time.
2. Sign up with all characters you wish to be considered for the raid, Character selections will ONLY be from those that are signed up, but be knowledgeable of your own characters capabilities to avoid signing up characters grossly underprepared for the attempted content. Alts are allowed in any raid but are at the Raid Leaders Discretion, depending on our progression, the content difficulty and the gear quality of your character.
3. Once signed up, do not moved yourself into the “Confirmed” list - Raid Leader will do this based on class balance & other rules. Do not move other people in or out of the “Confirmed” list either.
4. Cancellation of sign ups after the team has been confirmed should be done as early as possible to allow for back ups to be notified. Should you need to cancel after the team has been confirmed, you must notify the Raid Officer and Raid Leader via the Forum or Personal Message as soon as you are aware you cannot attend.
The “other rules” essentially works along the lines of:
a. Thursday nights are the Main progression starting night – looking to clear the current progression raid as far as possible for the continuation run. Where able we will allow lesser geared characters if this is farmable content so long as it is not to the detriment of the teams ultimate goal of progression.
b. Tuesday nights are our Main progression night and as such we will be picking the best possible characters for the best balanced team - priority here goes to those that are saved from a previous guild run earlier in the week – it?s only fair really, those that clear the earlier bosses should get first shot at the later bosses, unless that character was selected previously just to attend farmable content.
c. All other nights – Raids falling on any other night are not subject to any further rules or regulations, they are additional raids and can be attended by any suitably geared character. These nights often include Raiding Farmable content in an effort to gear up newer Raiders and Alts.
d. Cross Guild Raids - Occasionally we will take part in Cross-Guild Raids to attempt 25-Man or Harder 10-Man content. These Raids can fall on any day of the week, normally excluding Tuesday & Thursday, and are intended for the benefit of both guilds. When signing up for these raids you are expected to be flexible if the overall team is short of any particular role that you could fill on an alternative character.
5. Ensure:
- You are in-game at the invite time (whether you are selected for team or backup – if you don’t want to be a backup, please remove yourself from the sign-ups once the team has been selected on a Monday morning – by being an official backup, you will be given priority in the event that people don’t show up, so you need to be there ready to go)
- You have all the consumables/potions/elixirs etc that you need – if necessary, bring the mats for our guild crafters to make pre-raid.
- Your kit is the best possible you are able to get – eg. get it repaired; if there are gem slots - use them, even if it’s cheap gems, something is better than nothing; get it enchanted – even cheapo ones, again, something is better than nothing.
- You have Teamspeak installed and working sound – doesn’t matter if you don’t have a microphone (in fact, some people should be banned from having a microphone!) but you need to be able to hear the instructions as we go along – too much time is wasted and too many wipes are caused by not having Teamspeak – consider it compulsory.
- Some sort of threat meter (pref. Omen as it’s about the best) installed and working – too many wipes are being caused by over-aggroing and a lot of the mobs we’re killing are un-tauntable meaning when you over-aggro, you die, the mob then goes to the person next to you, kills them, we wipe…
Loot distribution:
1. Loot master will be set at the start of each run (not just for boss fights). Loot master will have the final say in all cases. If the decision goes against you, don’t get mad – come back another time and make sure they drop again!
2. We have no limit on how many items you can roll on or win in a Raid. We do however insist you employ a “Fair Play” attitude and if you have won many items on the same night we ask that you consider opting out on other items to help more evenly distribute the loot.
3. We use a “Main Spec First” Rule on loot rolls. Your Main Spec is the role you have been selected to attend the raid as even if it is not the role you consider to be your main spec. “Off Spec Rolls” will be considered only after it is agreed no “Main Spec” rolls are taking place.
4. Should the Raid Leader ask you to assume a different role (ie Switch Spec) for a particular fight, you will (in most cases) be eligible to roll on both your Main Spec and your Off Spec Roles as Main Spec.
5. These “rules” will be in place whether it?s a full guild run or if we have non-guildies along. If we have people filling slots for us then they?re doing us a favour as much as we are them, so they?re entitled to loot just as much as one of us.
6. All unneeded/unwanted BOP items will be sharded and sent to guildbank. In the case of a Cross-guild run the shards will be evenly shared between the 2 Guilds.
PUG’s/non-calendar raids:
For those of you not in the know – once a boss is downed in a raid you become “saved” to a particular raid ID. This has the benefit of allowing us to continue on different nights but also has the downside that anyone that was on a particular raid can continue with a different group at their leisure. Now the big thing with raid ID’s is that you cannot have people from different raid ID?s in the same group – If you are there when we down a Boss, you cannot then go with a different group (with a different raid ID) and take on a different one.
This on the whole works nicely as it allows us to come back on a Thursday/Tuesday and continue progression Raiding without having to start from scratch each time – but can lead to the situation whereby a group can take (a minimum of) one player from a saved raid ID and continue where we left off. This is against the spirit of our guild raids and as such is a banned practice. The raid ID that we start on a Thursday and utilise the following Tuesday and perhaps also extend is solely to be used for runs that have been put up on the calendar by the raid officer. Any use of the guild raid ID for a non-calendar run, not sanctioned by the raid officer, is considered gross misconduct and will result in your removal from the guild.
Last but not least – enjoy it!!!
