Another year, another set of bosses to badger. But first, let’s start off with a missing downing from before Christmas – Lord Marrowgar. On the 17th of December, a highly trained team of Badgers travelled to the Lich King’s den to start chewing on his various bones. We had the tactics fresh in our heads and after a few tries, they were cemented in our feet as well, dodging flames and flying bones as if we had always been doing it.
Lord Marrowgar: Cord of the Patronizing Practitioner (Vindicara), Citadel Enforcer’s Claymore (Horacio)
Out with the old, onto the new. The first raid of 2010 was an easy start with Onyxia, immediately followed by a Trial of the Crusader on the 5th of January. We’ve got these raids down to a brisk stroll by now, so let’s get down to the purples.
Onyxia: Stormrage Antlers (Auldyn – finally!), Netherwind Hood (dissed), Eskhandar’s Choker (Pancho), Ashen Sack of Gems (Sangar), Head of Onyxia (Peregrinum)
Beasts: Acidmaw Boots (Jakal), Rod of Imprisoned Souls (Mysticle)
Jaraxxus: Girdle of the Nether Champion (Kummin), Belt of the Winter Solstice (Elfmantim)
Champions: Faceplate of the Silver Champion (Peregrinum), Victor’s Call (Sangar)
Twins: Gloves of the Azure Prophet (dissed), Icefall Blade (dissed)
Anub: The Lion’s Maw (dissed), Spaulders of the Snow Bandit (Auldyn), Cinch of the Undying (Mysticle)
Wednesday was Weekly Waid Wun, this time (as the previous few weeks) Ignis. As this was the only raid planned for the day, we decided to spice things up and go for Flame Leviathan + 2, which shouldn’t be too hard considering the increase in gear we’ve had since Ulduar was released. We mowed down some dwarves and knocked over a few towers and rolled in on the Leviathan. A few minutes and many fires later, Orbital Devastation popped up on our screens. After that we went and killed Ignis for our quest and enjoyed an early night. I can’t imagine the loot was much to brag about, because I certainly didn’t take note of what dropped.
The first Icecrown raid of the new year came on Thursday, and the Badgers promptly picked Lord Marrowgar’s bones clean, before moving to a new boss – Lady Deathwhisper. With the tactics nearly understood and the execution nearly mastered, we nearly got her down! Oh well, next time.
Lord Marrowgar: Marrowgar’s Scratching Choker (Joneleth), Ancient Skeletal Boots (Peregrinum)
After the weekend we gathered up with the Watchers for a renewed focus on 25 man raids, first up being Onyxia and Trial of the Crusader on Monday. Onyxia was casually brushed aside before we entered what was the first TotC-25 for most people. Beasts took a try or two to get right, Jaraxxus was as easy as on 10 man and the Faction Champions went down on the second attempt (the first being a case of ninja kitteh pull). The twins proved to be the night’s toughest challenge, and we spent a handful of attempts on them before getting them down just in time for bed.
Beasts: Boneshatter Armplates (Sangar), Belt of the Ice Burrower (Suzy), Shawl of the Refreshing Winds (Hiela), Trophy of the Crusade (Elfmantim), Crusader Orb (Watchers)
Jaraxxus: Dawnbreaker Greaves (Watcher Matlet), Bracers of Cloudy Omen (Suzy), Charge of the Demon Lord (Pekkala), Trophy of the Crusade (Tetley), Pattern: Royal Moonshroud Robe (Watcher Drewski)
Champions: Treads of the Icewalker (Elfmantim), Chestplate of the Frostborn Hero (Defo), Cloak of Displacement (Watcher Toura won, but later passed it to second highest roller – Watcher Nihilisti), Trophy of the Crusade (Peregrinum), Crusader Orb (Badgers)
Twins: Bindings of Dark Essence (Watcher Nihilisti), Belt of the Merciless Killer (Tetley), Lupine Longstaff (Elfmantim), Trophy of the Crusade (Watcher Fizzlegúmp, after a re-roll against yours truly, Joneleth), Pattern: Crusader’s Dragonscale Bracers (Celegorm)
The last raid of the reset went to Icecrown Citadel, and for the first time in a very long time, we (nearly) had the signups to put two teams in there simultaneously, the A Team and the C Team. The letter of course stand for Auldyn and Cattalis, the respective leaders. ![]()
The C Team went to work on a fresh instance, while A spent some time filling the last two slots with Watchers Matil and Kanto (Urthas) for continuing on Lady Deathwhisper. Both teams made good progress, downing two bosses each, and probably would’ve progressed further, but the hamster that is the power supply to Runetotem needed replacement – and let’s just say the transition wasn’t as smooth as we would have appreciated.
Lord Marrowgar: Citadel Enforcer’s Claymore (Sangar), Cord of the Patronizing Practitioner (Cyanize)
Lady Deathwhisper: Deathspeaker Zealot’s Helm (Joneleth), Scourgelord’s Baton (Hiela), Soulthief’s Braided Belt (Jakal), Ghoul Commander’s Cuirass (Cattalis)
Gunship Battle: Saronite Gargoyle Cloak (Joneleth), Midnight Sun (Auldyn)
With that, one of the most eventful raid weeks ever is over, and I’ll leave you with these two pictures for your enjoyment!

WOoo cyanize ftw!
WELL DONE GUYS!
